The following are photos taken on (7/11/10), "Day 1" of the Farmers Market.. Farmers Market "Day 1" a Grand Success...!!! The Town of Babylon Farmers Market in Downtown Copiague was a huge success on "Day 1". The market which will be open Sundays (from 10:00am to 2:00pm) through November 21st is located in the parking lot at the corner of Great Neck Rd and Oak St in Copiague. The formal ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by town dignitaries Councilwoman Jackie Gordon and Councilman Tony Martinez as well as Copiague Chamber of Commerce President Sharon Fattoruso.. The Chamber is a "co-sponsor" of this program along with the Town of Babylon and is responsible for leading the coordination of these activities. There were several other Chamber dignitaries on hand as well as Carol Lynch, President of the Kiwanis Club of Copiague and other Kiwanis representatives. The public responded very well to the market as sales of produce went quickly. While the market is still in its infant stages, its growth potential and value to the surrounding community is incalculable.. Also available at the market besides freshly grown local produce were "works of art", photo opportunity with colorful parrots, sports equipment swap table, and many others.. The Market is still accepting "vendors". They included Don and Helene Allen, Vince Cirasole (Copiague's own resident organic expert), Ellen DiDomenico, Susan Langan, Jacqueline Poulos, Sal Puglia (Chamber 1st Vice President and lead coordinator of this event) Debbie Toomey, and April Wozniak. The lovely and patriotic ribbons were donated as customary by Louise Sidoti of Copiague Country Florist. A word of thank you to Angela Santamaria of Angela's Salon & Spa for allowing us to use her establishment in case of need or emergency..
